G-HURY
Hawker Restorations have taken approx. 2.5 years to restore Hawker Hurricane G-HURY. Whilst retaining all of the original stainless steel components, all of the tubeless structure, front and rear centre section spars, tailplane and fin spars have been replaced with the correct roll formed spars exactly as fitted in the 1930's and 1940's. The wings have been totally rebuilt using new front and rear spars and root end fittings but retaining much of the internal original components and structure. The wings have been re-skinned and are fitted with overload fuel tanks and four 20mm cannons. All of the systems have been totally overhauled or remanufactured. The aircraft has been rewired to the original diagrams and much of the plumbing regarding the coolant system, oil system, hydraulics and pneumatics have been replaced. Using the original Hurricane drawings and jigs the woodwork has been replaced which gives the Hurricane its distinctive shape. The aircraft has been covered in Irish Linen and painted in 6 Squadron colours, coded JV-N. The aircraft is fitted with a Merlin 500 configured with a Dowty Rotol 3 blade propeller. This aircraft is one of the 10 aircraft restored or being restored at Hawker Restorations of which 4 have been delivered. The aircraft has been successfully test flown and is now at Duxford.
