Hawker Restoration

Percival Mew Gull

Following our restoration of the original Mew Gull G-AEXF after a crash at Shuttleworth, we were been asked by the late Alex Henshaw MBE to manufacture a static replica, exactly matching in every detail the Cape configuration used by him on his record-breaking 1939 solo flight from Gravesend to Cape Town and back (12,754 miles in four days, 10 hours and 16 minutes, a time not bettered for more than 70 years). On display at the RAF Museum Hendon, it was dedicated by Alex as a tribute to all the racing and record-breaking pilots active in the inter-war years.
